This piece is part of my Ruling the Roost collection, where humor, personality, and a little bit of attitude take center stage. There is a playful tension here, a sense of time shifting, rhythms changing, and something just slightly out of sync in the best way. It feels bold and a little mischievous, like it is fully aware of the absurdity of trying to control time at all.
This work begins as an original painting and is reproduced on archival paper, then mounted to a tin ceiling tile with a hand-painted, antiqued border. Made using ceiling tiles produced from original late nineteenth-century dies, each piece carries a sense of history while remaining bright, bold, and full of joy. As far as I know, there’s nothing else like them anywhere.
